Superslim MacBook Air – large wallet needed

Building on their ‘slim is best’ mantra, Apple have just unveiled the superslim MacBook Air.

At it’s narrowest point it is just 4mm (0.16 inches) – you could hide it behind a pencil. Steve Jobs, Apples CEO, demonstrated the MacBook Air at the Macword Conference and Expo. He actually pulled it out of an A4 envelope, shocking and amazing the crowd.

The Apple MacBook Air has an impressive 13.3in screen. No, it’s not touchscreen but some of the iPhone touch controls have been incorporated into the mousepad.

The ‘iPhone pinching gesture’ zooms in and out of a web page or document, and two fingers on the pad and twisting them lets you rotate what
you are looking at.

No built-in CD drive, an external drive can be bought though. Wireless appears to be the way forward for getting data to and from the MacBook Air.

The battery can’t be removed, limiting a 5-hour life usage.

All in all a ‘nice’ laptop – Yes it looks superb, yes it is the slimmest in the world – but is it worth the price of a more advanced MacBook Pro?
